Maple Butterscotch has a close grain that gives it a soft, even texture. The hand scraping aspect of the wood is overall smooth. It's lightly distressed rounded edges gives it unique look overall. This technique gives the wood an individual plank look, making each plank that much more defined.
While the grain is generally straight, it can also appear curly, wavy, or striped. Sometimes there is pronounced color variation when maple is exposed to intense light. Maple sapwood is generally white with a slight reddish-brown tint. The heartwood is reddish brown and sometimes quite dark.HCS101B4
